If you are learning English with a native teacher,

Some things that you should do…

  • Study and practise the FREE lessons on this site.

  • Talk to as many people as you can, whenever you can, about anything.

  • Don’t be embarrassed, it’s O.K. to make mistakes.

  • Learn phonetics first and practise the pronunciation of each word.

  • Don't try to learn English from movie subtitles. The translation is not exact and you
    won't learn the language correctly.

  • Check your mouth positions and watch yourself speaking in a mirror.

  • Study only the basics of grammar, leave the advanced stuff until later.

  • Leave the difficult vocabulary and verb conjugations for later.
  • Learn phrases, not just single words.
  • Practice repeating the phrases to be found here at  ESL Fast Robot.

  • Try not to translate into your own language. Remember each sentence in English
by putting a picture into your mind. Try to 'see' the words in pictures.

  • Practice one phrase a day, and repeat it to yourself over and over again.

  • Listen to as much English as you possibly can, and repeat what you hear.

  • Make audio recordings of yourself speaking in English. When you listen to them,
make a note of  the words that sound different from the ones that you have learned.

  • Practice each of these words again and again until you get them right.
